You are intaking air with a huge 360 rad (the thinner one) which increases the temps inside your case. Question. Having seen this suggested a few times I would like to try out all fans exhaust to see if there is a change but it involves draining the whole loop just to get at the top fan screws. But even so I have far more cooling capacity now so I expected to see lower temps. Facebook; Welcome to the brand new 205GTIDrivers.com website! Posted in General Discussion, By Upgraded Watercooling Loop to a Dual Radiator Setup, but temps are now hotter? Also noted that my SSD, and ambient motherboard temps would go up well above ambient, which is where they should always be. Started 25 minutes ago (He also mentions this would drop clocks on GPU but CPU doesn't really care unless it's hitting TJ MAX). I'll post again if I have any further updates. When a bubble moves out from somewhere in the loop it absolutely flies through the system if that's any indicator of flow. Wondering what I would need for a big PC upgrade. Or some crap from the rad could be in the block. 891. Best computer cooling radiator, 240 radiator, 280 radiator, slim, thick, high and low FPI. Try all in or all ot, but you need at least another fan supperting the airflow. Dual Radiator Question. Range Extender? The problem i noticed was when ever iopened my case up , the interios would be warm as hell, and my temps were not as good tas they should have been. Try all rads as exhaust and add 3 fans in the bottom for intake. Your loop is working perfectly fine at the moment and there's nothing to be worried or stressed about, just relax and enjoy your beast. Just means every crack and air gap in your case will get dust in it making it a pain to clean, I'd probably go push pull with slight positive pressure if you can manage it and live with the slight temperature increase. I understand and appreciate your logic, but do consider that there are a lot of dual radiator setups out there that use a radiator on the inlet and the exhaust without issues. You can find many more similar videos regarding radiator placement. I'll try a few other stress tests and look for improvement throughout the day but man.. this sucks.. Dual NF-P14/NF-P12 fan setup Previously, after applying liquid metal to the CPU, in AIDA64 FPU Stress Test after about 15mins the CPU temp would be leveled out at 41-42C with the cores in the low to mid 50s. This actually makes perfect sense. Started 29 minutes ago I have 2 radiators, one 280mm at the front as intake and one 360mm at the top, contrary to usual non radiator setups as intake aswell. I know 4-5 degrees isn’t much but I spent a lot of time and money on the upgrade so I want to get its full potential. I would like to see some benchmarks comparing all intake vs intake + exhuast rads. I think the typical low rpm and the efficiency of radiators make it difficult to exhaust the heat that just simply re-heats your components in the case. That's a 7C and a 6C temperature delta between ambient and water. Linus Media Group is not associated with these services. I could probably find something to measure the temperature of the inlet air if need be, but I really don't think that's the issue. Started 5 minutes ago I will be running a gear drive twin F1C Procharged SBC 406 street car. Non-scientific, experiential comparison. Will a Deepcool GAMMAXX L120T Work With my B450M D3SH? Just for testing. I need some help regarding my most recent PC build. Joined Nov 10, 2002 Messages 3,371. So i reversed the front Monsta rad to exhaust also. Six heatpipe dual radiator design. What is a dual fuel radiator? Originaly i had that fat rad in the front as intake, with my 2nd 'normal 240 rad up top as exhaust and a 3rd bolted to the back of my case via the single 120mm fan mount also exhaust. I've got a 480 and a 520 rad on the same loop in a Caselabs SMA8. Regarding heat: Like @OM222O said, your upper rad is running on warm air of the front rad. I'm so stressed out. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. It's funny because I'm actually planning on moving to a PC-O11D myself, because it's such a great case for having two exhausting triple radiators. It still could just be room temperature difference I guess. Also opening the side panel and holding my hand inside is quite hot too. Theory crafting my next PC build and was thinking about doing a loop with dual radiators. I haven't had a champion radiator yet in any of my Fieros or kit cars but have had overheating issues in past on hot days or a/c on. I really hope there's just some air in there that needs to come out, but I left the pump running all night and tilted the case every which way to try and get the air out. I really hope it helps. Hi everyone, This is my first post. I wish I had a way of measuring water temps in my old setup as that would make this a lot easier, but I didn't have a water temp sensor then. Sign up for a new account in our community. Would it be beneficial, ... Thats how i have mine setup..(2 gpu's) View Entire Discussion (8 Comments) More posts from the watercooling community. I'm aware that this is overkill. Maybe I'm not tilting enough haha. Either way the temps are still good enough to overclock further so I'll see how I go with that. I assume you're talking about the top fan on the side radiator. Both rads are push+pull. This should increase performance as the server will be able to accept The rad could be causing resistance and the flow rate could have dropped. It was a nightmare of a job and it felt terrible undoing most of the work I spent hours doing just recently. Well then the air temps in your case should be similarly high to mine. Buy a second AIO and have two separate loops. The GPU temps are up a few degrees from before as well. I second all rads on exhaust. This is my first post. Then 1 140mm as exhaust at the back and another 120mm at the bottom as exhaust. scottiecb19 NightBlaze I fixed it by switching all radiator fans to exhaust. I'm open to further discussion though, could you link me to the Gamers Nexus Video you mentioned so I can check it out? Started 29 minutes ago A big rad as intake will heat up the interoir of ur case, re-circulating that hot air through your other large rad. We hope you'll enjoy it! In 3DMark Time Spy Stress Test the GPU would stay around 50C. Do I need a New Router? My preferred location for such a cooler would be the rear fan mount, however it doesn't look like the 450D has enough room for a radiator in that location when there's a double-length radiator installed up top. Don't know if it's enough to make much of a difference though.. You can watch JayzTwoCents videos about crazy cooling ideas where he explains why water cooling loops behave in the way they do in much more depth. By that you are lowering the cooling performance of the top rad dramatically! It's pretty hard to avoid as most cases will only let you mount radiators on the inlet or the exhaust (front/side or top) and it's actually the recommended dual radiator layout for this case. WATERCOOLING ... You may filter by price by dragging the slider values to set your price range or manually entering values. Regarding fans on the bottom, there is no space as I have the GPU, an SSD and the water pump on the bottom of the case. Which will be more efficient, the radiators connected one after the other in series. Permalink. A wide variety of dual radiators options are available to you, such as anti-bacteria, heater. If you don't have enough capacity, you will run into a thermal runaway situation, where your loop is dissipating less power than it's being fed, so your temps keep rising up indefinitely.Once you meet the requirements of your loop (which you do, because your water is in the mid 20s as you mentioned) you won't gain any further temperature drops, because the your loop is successfully dissipating all the heat dumped into it. I have tested the GPU as well. They're thicker than the the stock sf750 cables. It's easy! I am so happy with how the build turned out aesthetically but it's really bringing me down that all that work is leading to higher temps.. User Name: Remember Me? Also, a 15 minute test isn't long enough to show the benefit of having those radiators as all exhaust. Started 23 minutes ago In all I think you are fine, I don't have any data to back up my theory, though it does make sense. As for the absolute temperature of your components, it has to do with the thermal resistance of the each component, for example when you replace the stock TIM and go with liquid metal, it drops your temps because you can transfer the heat much more efficiently (lower thermal resistance) but you haven't increased the surface area of your loop, etc. Still gathering parts for my new setup, and am wondering about pump placement. Idk maybe I'm taking to much but I know you can move a ton of heat with a medium sized rad. I was having a very similar issue with temperatures and airflow in my thread here. Either squeeze it in there on top of the current one, or try to stuff it in the back compartment behind the radiator. IE exhaust hot air out the top / rear, intake cooler air from the front / bottom. As I can see your original setup had your CPU running at 41-52C and after you added a new radiator, your temps raised to 46-58C which was a 5C increase, but after you made these changes, you got back down to 43-56C which can be cause by difference in ambient temp as it's only about 2C (and remember the displayed temps aren't that exact and you have a 1C margin of error as a rule of thumb). Posted in Troubleshooting, By I prefer to keep positive pressure inside the case for dust management, and try to cooperate with physics as far as airflow. & View 37 (Breathable Quad 2080Ti + 2990WX), Full-custom loop builds: Meshify C (Full custom loop SLI), Ncase M1(8700K + 1080Ti Full custom loop)  Obsidian 900D (1950X + Quad 1080Ti) & Fractal Define C (1080 in SLI), Air-cooled builds Air 740D (1920X + Quad 980Ti) & Fractal Define C (Version Air!). After all, there’s nothing worse than getting out of the bath or shower to a cold bathroom. Just going to repeat what others have said. I also set up my SO's PC like this with dual intake rads and am afraid I did it incorrectly at this point. The only other thing I changed was that I used Kryonaut thermal paste this time instead of Hydronaut, but Kryonaut is supposed to be better. Even though the "warmer" air from the case passes through the top radiator, leads to better thermals instead of having it as an intake? Now, in my new setup, in AIDA64 FPU Stress Test after 15mins the CPU temp is at 46C and still slowly rising. I have been running the pump at 100% and even tilting the case I can't seem to get them to move. I pulled the front panel off and with my hand in front of the intake fans I can feel the air is not really hot at all, maybe a little warm but not hot or anywhere near enough to worry the top radiator. Quick CPU Mark tests of the same setup with single and dual radiators. I think this is why really thick radiators don't do as great for their surface area, compared to a longer thinner radiator. Posted in Networking, Linus Media Group On another note, I took a photo of the air bubbles in the cpu block. As I said before just adding more rads won't drop your temps as it just adds to your loop capacity, so you shouldn't expect temps drop by going overkill. Tonight I decided to stay up late and bite the bullet and swap the fans around. Maybe I need to run the test for longer or under combined loads to see any difference? Aim I doing it wrong and should use the top radiator fans as exhaust and if so, why? Pump placement - Dual Radiator setup. I have two 12 x12x2 aluminium radiators with 11" fans. So two 360mm rads that are 30mm thick both as intake will out preform a single 360mm rad that is 60mm thick as intake. When a radiator is placed in front of a case as an intake, it warm up the intake air which in turn increases the air temperature inside your case. For testing you can just remove the side panel do allow air into the inner chamber. Question. The first option introduces complexity, space considerations, failure points and expense to the system. Welcome to 205GTIDrivers.com! Point is if flow is an issue or there is another issue with having 2 rads then maybe do 1 rad with double sided fans? How should I turn the other 2 fans to adjust? Both tests on my old system were running the fans at 1500ish RPM and the water pump at full speed. Posted in Networking, By Read the full notice here. Providing more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency than conventional tower style heatsinks, the NH-D14s six heatpipe dual radiator design was developed to provide ultimate quiet cooling performance in dual fan mode. And there is so much space available at sides of car that why I was thinking about the dual setup. kucharczykt Or using a pair of Magnafuel -12AN y-blocks feeding them in parallel? I will test again in the morning if all is well. There's no need to drain the whole loop. I should have much better cooling performance now that I have far more total radiator surface area and thickness. Granted if you are in a small room and/or warmer climate the air in the room will heat up so much that the rate of the transfer of heat will decrease. Posted in Phones and Tablets, By The water temps are usually only in the mid to high 20's with the fans at 1600RPM during AIDA64, and no higher than 31C at lower fan speeds in games and 3D benchmarks (combined loads). After gaming for 4 hours you'll still be getting good temperatures if they're exhausting, but if one was intaking you'd likely get a big buildup of hot air inside of the case, with the case itself heating up as well. There are still some little bubbles in the CPU block and sometimes I can hear what sounds like maybe little bubbles moving around in the top radiator (EK XE 360), but can those things really make that much of a difference? That's why I was concerned when my temps were a little higher than before. I understand what you're getting at, fair point. Previously my watercooling setup consisted of a single EK SE 420x28mm radiator in the top of my Phanteks Enthoo Luxe case with 3 ML140 Pro fans, an EK XRES 140 D5 Revo Pump/Res combo, EK Supremacy RGB CPU block, Phanteks Glacier GPU Block and soft tubing. Sort By. Purchase a larger radiator AIO and sell my current on to cover the cost. To assure the best thermal capacity and increase heat transfer, the Pacific CLM Series is engineered with a thick 40mm radiator along with a dual-row 12-set flat tube design and brass tank. I really need some help figuring this out. Is it just the same principle? So the greater the difference in the ambient air and the fluid, the more heat the radiator will give off. I understand and appreciate your logic, but do consider that there are a lot of dual radiator setups out there that use a radiator on the inlet and the exhaust without issues. If it was that big of a deal then I would think that top mounted AIOs with air cooled GPUs wouldn't work. Now, you can capture this experience all year round! Recently upgraded my rig from a fan cooled system to full water loop. Data Recovery from phone with broken screen. Just unplug it so it's not running, and then ghetto-rig up another fan if you can. I had another look at your results ... first of all, water temps shouldn't have any delta on a 15 minute test, as everyone says, the loop "soaks up" the heat slowly and as others have mentioned, you did the right thing by going on exhaust on both rads, it will show significant improvements on a long lasting load such as a 4/5 hour gaming session or editing large video files that may take 1/2 hours. Then the second thicker rad uses that warmed up air as it's intake(This is also why the temps keep rising up, the more heat you dump into your system, the warmer your case would be). I don't have a thermal cam to check exact temps, but shouldn't a top exhaust rad lead to better internal air temps? I have 2 radiators, one 280mm at the front as intake and one 360mm at the top, contrary to usual non radiator setups as intake aswell. During this test the water temperature reached 25.5C: This morning I ran the test again with no dust filters and the fans all exhausting air at a room temperature of about 16.8C. It might just be your loop settling down anyway, t takes a while for all the air to work itself out of the system and the more components in the loop the longer it takes. An air cooled graphics card will push out much hotter air than this, and that air would go up through a top mounted (exhaust) radiator as well. The more surface area you add, the more capacity your loop will have. the thing is you also dont have any issues right now you have gone from a good temp to a good temp and most people who start with a dual rad in your config will just never convert to a single one and notice any difference. In my rig I am managing to have both rads expelling and fed with cold air as the 520 sits in the lower compartment isolated from the upper section and the 480 is in the top fed with cold air from 3 x front and 1 x rear case fans, managing slight positive pressure.
